Moves the Dolphins Should Make

As the free agency frenzy winds down there are still plenty of good players offensive left and with the Dolphins extra cap space they can sign one or maybe a few of these players. First we will start at Quarterback. As far as quarterbacks go there are not any goods ones left in free agency but there are a few on teams that need to clear up cap space.

One option is Matt Flynn of the Green Bay Packers. When Flynn got the chance to play last year in New England he showed what great potential he has passing for 251 yards and 3 touchdowns. The Pack did lose 27-31 but Flynn made his mark showing what he can do. However, his success can also be attributed to the great Green Bay offense who could make almost any quarterback look good. Either way he is young and has great upside.

Another option for a quarterback pickup would be Dallas Cowboys backup Jon Kitna. I know what your thinking hes "too old", yes hes 38 but this would only be a one or two year solution and if you look at his numbers he would be a great quick fix until the Fins can find another QB. In 10 games last year filling in for the injured Romo, Kitna threw for 2,365 yards and 16 touchdowns. This shows he can still be productive. This is also a perfect situation because the Cowboys are over the cap limit and need to clear up some space and getting rid of Kitna would free up the space needed. This should be a serious consideration for the Dolphins and would be my choice as the best move the Dolphins can make to sure up the offense.

Next we will move on to Running Back. The Dolphins really need to bring in a guy that they know could be consistent because you cant rely on rookie Daniel Thomas and Reggie Bush has never been consistent in his NFL career. There are plenty of good free agent running backs left on the market and its surprising that teams have not already picked some of these guys up.

The first good option would be Jason Snelling. He is relativley young and has spent his whole career backing up Michael Turner. He is extremly reliable and would be a nice fit in the Dolphins running game. Last year in limited action Snelling had 87 carries for 324 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also had 44 receptions for 303 yards and 3 touchdowns showing that he is a very dynamic back that is still pretty young.

Another Running Back the Fins should make a move for is Ricky Williams. This probably won't happen because he dissed Sparano's coaching after last season but lets face the facts he is still a good runningback. He is an extremly hard worker and is only one year removed from a 1,000 yard season with 11 touchdowns while sharing the ball with Ronnie Brown. If he got a chance to come back he would add good veteran leadership to this team and provide consistency in the running game.

Ricky Williams, running back

Those are the free agents I think the Dolphins should go after. I did not include wide recievers on this list because the Dolphins have expressed that they like their wide reciever talent and dont need another reciever. Out of my suggestions i believe the Dolphins would be best off getting Kitna and if they had the room getting Ricky Williams. With their dominant defense all they need is a little consistency on offense and this could easily be a 10 plus win team and a playoff team.
