Good News For the Miami Dolphins

08/03/2011 10:15

Vernon Carey has taken a pay cut and will return to practice today. Carey was previously upset that the Dolphins asked him to take a pay cut and at one point it seemed he could have left the team. This is good news for Dolphins fans because Carey although not what he used to be is still a very good offensive tackle and piece greatly needed to open up the young running game. As of now the offensive line looks pretty solid and the starters are as follows:

LT: Jake Long*

LG: Richie Incognito

C: Mike Pouncey

RG: John Jerry

RT: Vernon Carey

This could easily change in the coming weeks due to many things. One being that John Jerry showed up to camp in very bad shape and is looking sluggish. Also the Dolphins are planning to make another move before the season but its not necessarily a move for an offensive lineman. Furthermore there are many rumors that the Dolphins are looking to sign former Giants Pro Bowl center Shaun O'Hara. O'Hara was in Miami a couple of days ago for a tour and returned home the other to talk to his family which makes it seem like he wants to sign with the Dolphins. If he was to sign with the Dolphins one of two things could happen: Pouncey could remain at center with O'Hara moving to Right Guard or O'Hara would take over the Center position which would move Pouncey to the Right Guard position. Either way it makes the offensive line very solid and good enough to open up the young running game.

In other news the Dolphins also signed Tackle Marc Colombo to add depth to the tackle position.
